Call for expert evaluators for MISCEA – 2nd call

In the framework of the MSCA Cofund programme “MISCEA” (Modelling and Interdisciplinarity Science for the Ecological trAnsition), we are launching a call for applications to select expert evaluators for the selection committee of the 2nd wave of MISCEA thesis offers.

MISCEA is a doctoral programme coordinated by the École nationale des ponts et chaussées and co-funded by the European Union as part of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) – COFUND under grant agreement number #101126720. This programme aims to create a network of 18 doctoral fellows, with PhD theses focusing on the central theme of the ecological and energy transitions.

There are currently twelve MISCEA thesis offers published on Euraxess, covering a wide diversity of subjects and disciplines. Interested candidates are invited to apply for these thesis offers until April 30th and MISCEA interviews are expected to take place on May 15th and 16th, 2025 (online).

As an expert evaluator, you will participate to the selection committee responsible for choosing PhD candidates. Your role in this process is essential, as you will assess the research proposals and the candidates’ potential to make significant contributions in their respective fields. Your expertise and insights will be crucial in guaranteeing the quality and integrity of the programme.

The duties of the MISCEA selection committee members are the following:

– You will receive the applications from potential doctoral candidates at the beginning of May, so that you can carry out your proofreading and pre-evaluation of the applications before the auditions on the basis of an evaluation grid.

– You will participate as a jury member of the selection committee during the auditions (scheduled for May 15th and 16th, online).

– You will send an argued written evaluation of each candidate and his/her research project to the MISCEA coordination team within seven days following the auditions.

We are looking for experts with a strong background in the following research fields:

  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Geotechnics
  • Environmental sciences, urban hydrology, modeling
  • Technology management
  • Materials, life cycle assessment
  • Transportation economics
  • Civil engineering
  • Environmental sciences
  • Structural mechanics
  • Environmental and development economics

Requirements:

Your scientific experience, your appreciation of the ethical expectations of research and your knowledge of tomorrow’s ecological and energy challenges will be central to your role as expert evaluator for MISCEA. As a member of the MISCEA selection committee, your contribution will have a real impact on the choice of laureates, helping to train the next generation of researchers on these essential issues.

In agreement with the values of the programme, French law and European principles, it is imperative that all evaluators on the MISCEA selection committee abide by the rules prohibiting discrimination based on race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age or state of health.

Moreover, please note that to be selected as an expert evaluator for the 2nd wave of MISCEA auditions, you cannot be an employee of École nationale des ponts et chaussées.

If you are interested in becoming an independent expert evaluator for the MISCEA programme, we invite you to contact us at miscea-program@enpc.fr and send us:

– Your scientific CV, including previous experiences as an evaluator (if applicable)

– A list of your publications (between 5 and 10)

– Indicate which thesis topic you feel most relevant to evaluate.

Depending on the individual expertise of each selected expert, a defined number of theses will be assigned to you.

The deadline for expert evaluators applications is April 6th, 2025 – 23:59 (Europe/Paris).

A financial contribution is provided.

We appreciate your interest in the MISCEA doctoral programme, and we look forward to working with you.
